... You're sad.

Whether it's because you had a fight with your mom, lost your favorite pair of earrings, or watched one too many episodes of Grey's Anatomy in a row, being sad is a lot of work. Think of all the crying, snot removing, best friend sad texting, unhappy internet surfing, and despondent apartment wandering you're doing! Any way you slice it, you're sad burning tons of sad calories every sad second!

While some (more annoying) ladies might lose their appetite in these trying times, the rest of us often find ourselves reaching for whatever snack is nearest to us in order to eat away the pain. This impulse to smother our sadness with cheese, drown it in chocolate, or fry it in delicious grease is a completely natural attempt to replace the calories we're losing with every Taylor Swift or Alanis Morissette song we belt out in our bedrooms.

Go ahead, indulge your sorrow. Just make sure the fridge is fully stocked. Alcohol helps, too.
